Michael Carrick has been appointed as the head coach of Manchester United until the end of the season. His first match in charge will be against Manchester City.

This change follows the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

Amorim’s exit came after a significant dispute with Jason Wilcox prior to the 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS took over, they have not seen any success.

Last season, Manchester United finished 15th and also lost in the Europa League final.

This season has been challenging, with the team currently in 7th place and having won only one of their last six games.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS executives met with Joel and Avram Glazer at Carrington yesterday to discuss the club’s future.

We also have updates on other discussions that took place yesterday.

An investor visited Carrington to meet with Joel and Avram Glazer, as well as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS team, to talk about the new stadium plans and the overall process.

United is actively seeking sponsors for the stadium’s naming rights and looking for commercial partners.

In March 2025, Manchester United revealed plans for a new 100,000-seat stadium next to Old Trafford.

They are also pursuing private investment for this project.

The estimated cost for the new stadium is over £2 billion, and the club plans to finance it through a combination of investments and commercial agreements.

Several aspects are still being worked out, including financing and site clearance, before construction can begin.

According to the architects, once construction starts, it could take about five years to complete the stadium using prefabricated components.
