Inter Miami is looking to sign CF Monterrey forward German Berterame, a player on the Mexico national team, in a deal worth around $15 million.
This amount matches Berterame’s release clause with the Liga MX team, which informed ESPN of Miami’s interest on Friday.
“I can confirm that Inter Miami has made an approach and put forward a proposal that interests Berterame,” stated Monterrey sporting director Jose Antonio Noriega to ESPN.
“German is interested, and it may be beneficial for us. If we find the offer appealing and German leaves, we will do our best to find a replacement, which we are already planning for.”
Berterame, 27, has scored 67 goals and provided 15 assists in 152 games since joining Monterrey in 2022. He also netted 31 goals in 93 matches while at Atletico San Luis from 2019 to 2022.
Defending MLS Cup champions Inter Miami, featuring superstar Lionel Messi, will kick off the 2026 regular season against Los Angeles FC on February 21 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
