Liam Rosenior returned to Stamford Bridge this week, managing Chelsea against Arsenal.

Unfortunately for him, Chelsea lost 3-2 to their London rivals. However, there is still hope for the Blues as they head into the second leg of the Carabao Cup at the Emirates.

Chelsea is set to face Brentford in another London matchup this Saturday.

Before the match, Rosenior spoke with reporters about several topics, including Raheem Sterling’s role in his plans.

Dario Essugo has been a key topic for Rosenior as the midfielder recovers from injury.

Although he hasn’t played this season, Essugo is now fit and ready for selection.

Rosenior, who values Essugo’s talent, is cautious about his return, considering the thigh injury that kept him out. The Chelsea manager stated: “Dario’s close. I know his abilities and strengths, but I want to ensure he returns at the right moment after a long absence because he is a very good player.”

This indicates that Rosenior will likely continue with Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Andrey Santos in midfield for now.

Santos, who played in Chelsea’s recent match against Arsenal, has earned Rosenior’s trust due to his performances at Strasbourg. Both Santos and Essugo could play important roles for Chelsea moving forward if they keep developing.

Dario Essugo Needs Game Time Before Season Ends

Once Rosenior believes the midfielder is ready, he should reintegrate him into Chelsea’s midfield.

Essugo brings valuable skills to the team. Last season in La Liga with Las Palmas, he averaged 2.2 tackles per game, demonstrating his effectiveness defensively.

Chelsea recognizes similarities between Essugo and Caicedo and is eager to see if this comparison becomes clearer once Essugo gets his opportunity.
