Liverpool is looking at the transfer market as they plan for the future beyond the 2025-26 season.

Liverpool is considering several major targets this year, particularly after Manchester City has upgraded their squad during the transfer window.

After a quiet January, Liverpool is already eyeing the summer market. Their primary focus is on strengthening the defense and adding a top midfielder to reshape the team under Arne Slot.

Liverpool consider Alessandro Bastoni after Marc Guehi move

Liverpool has shifted focus to Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni after losing interest in Marc Guehi, who is nearing a move to Manchester City.

According to TEAMtalk, Bastoni is open to moving to the Premier League and is a top choice for Arne Slot’s defense plans.

Bastoni, 26, is contracted with Inter until 2028 but might be available for around €80 million (£69.5 million).

The Italian international has enjoyed success in Serie A and the Champions League, and his abilities would enhance Liverpool’s defense alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Eduardo Camavinga targeted for €80 million

Liverpool’s long-term interest in Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has increased, with plans for an €80 million (£69.4 million) bid for the 23-year-old, according to Fichajes.

Liverpool believes Camavinga is a good fit for Slot’s style, as he can handle transitions effectively while providing physicality and composure.

Although he has a contract with Real Madrid until 2029, managerial changes and the club’s evolving midfield depth could make negotiations possible.

Nico Schlotterbeck another defensive option

Alongside Bastoni, Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck is also being considered.

TEAMTalk reported that the German international is a strong alternative if Inter rejects offers for Bastoni, with a transfer fee anticipated around £50 million (€58 million).

At 26, Schlotterbeck is seen as one of the most reliable defenders in the Bundesliga and aligns with Liverpool’s focus on age and durability as they consider life after Van Dijk.

His aerial ability and composure on the ball would make him a key addition as Liverpool emphasizes defensive stability in the next phase of Slot’s project.
