Everton travels to Villa Park to face Aston Villa, currently in third place and vying for second in the Premier League. The Toffees need a victory to climb to 10th place, despite missing eight key players. Here’s the latest on Everton’s team and our predicted lineup.

Everton Team News and Predicted Lineup vs Aston Villa As Toffees Aim for Top 10

Everton’s Recent Lineup

Everton was eliminated from the FA Cup last weekend by Sunderland after a penalty shootout where they missed all their attempts. James Garner scored the only goal for Everton in that match, equalizing in the 89th minute to take the game into extra time. Michael Keane and Jack Grealish were sidelined due to red cards received in their previous Premier League match against Wolves.

In their usual 4-2-3-1 formation, Jordan Pickford started in goal, with Jake O’Brien, James Tarkowski, Nathan Patterson, and Vitaliy Mykolenko in defense. James Garner and Merlin Röhl played in defensive midfield, while Harrison Armstrong, Tyler Dibling, and Dwight McNeil took on attacking roles, with Beto leading the attack.

Everton’s Form and Strategy

The Toffees have had a tough time recently, winning just one of their last five matches amid ongoing injuries and suspensions.

No new signings were made during the transfer window. In a pre-match press conference, David Moyes mentioned, “We’re still looking. I’m not sure we’ll get anything, but we’re trying.”

Injuries and Suspensions

Tim Iroegbunam has been added to the injury list, with Moyes stating he is dealing with a “slight injury.” No players are expected to return for the match against Villa. Carlos Alcaraz, Seamus Coleman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Jarrad Branthwaite remain out.

On a positive note, Branthwaite and Coleman have resumed training. However, Dewsbury-Hall, Alcaraz, and Iroegbunam are not ready to return. Moyes noted, “They’re getting closer but they’re not training yet.”

Jack Grealish is set to return after serving a one-match suspension. Michael Keane is serving a three-match ban and will not be available against Villa.

Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gueye are currently participating in the Africa Cup of Nations final with Senegal, and are also unavailable.
