Wayne Rooney is one of the most well-known players in Manchester United‘s history.
He joined the club in 2004 from Everton and made 393 appearances over 13 years, scoring 183 goals.
After leaving Old Trafford, Rooney returned to Everton for one year before moving to DC United and then finishing his career at Derby County, where he played 30 matches.
Since retiring, Rooney has explored various paths, including football management.
He managed Derby County from 2020 to 2022, serving as both a player and a manager. He resigned in 2022 after the team was relegated to League One.
Rooney then took charge of DC United from 2022 to 2023 but left after a challenging season.
Following that, he had brief managerial stints with Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle, with his time at Plymouth ending at the close of 2024.
Since his departure from management, Rooney has moved into punditry and television and plans to launch his own show soon.
In punditry, he has featured on shows like Match of the Day.
Recently, on Match of the Day’s ‘Behind The Scenes’ segment, Rooney revealed he is deaf in his left ear.
According to the Mirror, he told a BBC crew member, “Can I do it in this ear? I used to close the talkback. The problem is I’m deaf in my left ear. So when it’s too loud, I struggle to hear what Kelly Cates or whoever is saying.”
Rooney did not specify when he lost his hearing, which may surprise many Manchester United supporters.
