Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has no interest in joining the Saudi Pro League and prefers to stay in England or move to Serie A.
Mateta has informed Crystal Palace that he wishes to leave the club during the current transfer window, having declined to sign a new contract at Selhurst Park. He has 18 months left on his existing deal with the Eagles.
Both Juventus and Aston Villa are interested in the 28-year-old player, who could become Crystal Palace’s second major sale of the January transfer window, following Marc Guehi’s £20 million transfer to Manchester City.
Over the past two-and-a-half seasons, Mateta has netted 38 goals in the Premier League, attracting attention from various clubs.
Despite interest from the Saudi Pro League, reports indicate that Mateta does not want to pursue a lucrative transfer to the Middle East.
He aims to either stay in the Premier League or move to Serie A to enhance his chances of being selected for the France squad for the upcoming World Cup this summer.
Mateta made his debut for France in 2025 and has scored two goals in three appearances for the national team.
