Michael Carrick is focusing on the present at Manchester United, not on the possibility of a permanent position.
Carrick started his time as interim manager with a 2-0 win over Manchester City, boosting morale at Old Trafford after Ruben Amorim’s departure. This match is considered one of the club’s best performances this season.
His successful debut has led to speculation about him taking on the role permanently, especially before the team’s upcoming match against Premier League leaders Arsenal.
However, Carrick emphasized his short-term focus. When asked about his future, he stated: “In the past week, it hasn’t been about that; my thoughts are on what’s happening now.
“My priority is to ensure that any decisions made are not just for the short term. I have a responsibility to make the right choices moving forward. We’ll approach it as time goes on.”
Carrick expressed excitement about the challenge of facing Arsenal, who are currently leading the Premier League by seven points and have enjoyed seven consecutive wins in the Champions League.
“I’m looking forward to the game; it’s a significant challenge,” he noted.
“Arsenal is a strong team with many positives, and their position reflects that. We recognize their capabilities.
“We are in a good spot and looking forward to the match. We want to bring energy and enthusiasm to play positively.”
