Virgil van Dijk expressed his desire for Liverpool teammate Andy Robertson to remain with the club amid ongoing talks with Tottenham Hotspur regarding a transfer.
Spurs have approached Liverpool to inquire about signing the vice-captain, who is out of contract this summer and has not been a regular starter this season.
The Scotland international has appeared in just four Premier League matches and is reportedly considering the move to secure more playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Liverpool is willing to accommodate the 31-year-old’s request while expecting a small fee from Spurs, with discussions around a transfer fee of approximately £5 million.
Despite this, Van Dijk wants Robertson to stay at Anfield. Liverpool faced a loss at Bournemouth on Saturday, marking their fifth consecutive league match without a win.
Van Dijk emphasized that losing an important player like Robertson would be a setback for the team.
“He’s my vice-captain,” Van Dijk commented when discussing Robertson’s situation.
