Our Premier League Awards celebrate the highlights and lowlights of the weekend, featuring Mateus Fernandes, Patrick Dorgu, and Virgil van Dijk.
Moment of the Week
This week has been significant for Manchester United and Michael Carrick.
A victory over Manchester City on derby day was promising, but the win at Arsenal felt even more impactful. United upset the league leaders with a 3-2 comeback victory at the Emirates, shaking up the title race.
Matheus Cunha scored a remarkable late goal, making United the first team to win at the Emirates this season. It marked their first league win at Arsenal since 2017 and was also the first time this season Arsenal lost after leading.

With back-to-back wins against the top two teams, Carrick may now be a strong contender for the permanent managerial position.
Player of the Week
No matter how West Ham’s season goes, they may struggle to retain Mateus Fernandes. The new signing has shone in a tough season, showcasing his skills in a solid performance against Sunderland.
At the London Stadium, he dominated play, winning all his ground duels (7/7), leading in tackles (5/5), misplacing just one of his nine long passes, and scoring an impressive goal.

A standout display from the midfielder.
Goal of the Week
One player thriving under Michael Carrick is Patrick Dorgu.
Initially unremarkable as a wing-back under Ruben Amorim, he has found his form further up the pitch. After scoring against Manchester City, Dorgu scored again against Arsenal, producing a memorable goal.

Save of the Week
Lewis Miley likely thought he had scored, but Emi Martinez made a full-stretch save during Newcastle’s match, marking his 200th Premier League appearance with a clean sheet.
This was also Aston Villa’s first win at Newcastle in 21 years.

Stat of the Week
Liam Rosenior has labeled Estevao Willian a ‘special talent,’ which is hard to dispute based on this season’s performances.
This weekend, the winger became the youngest Chelsea player in 33 years to score and assist in a Premier League match.
18 – Estêvão (18y 276d) is the second youngest @ChelseaFC player to score and assist in a Premier League match, and youngest since Neil Shipperley (18y 164d) v Wimbledon in April 1993. Excelling. pic.twitter.com/VHiaqG64x6

Star boy.
A week to forget for…
Virgil van Dijk. The Liverpool captain has set high standards as a centre-back but is currently in a slump. He struggled with a long ball that led to Bournemouth’s first goal and played Alex Jimenez onside for the second.
Liverpool’s dependence on Van Dijk to play constantly has become a concern this season.
