Wolves are in discussions with Marseille regarding a loan for midfielder Angel Gomes.

The talks are about a straightforward loan with no option to buy, considering Wolves’ uncertain standing in the Premier League.

Gomes opted for Marseille last summer after rejecting offers from the Premier League, joining on a free transfer from Lille. This season, he has started 12 times in Ligue 1, scoring three goals.

Tottenham and West Ham showed interest in signing him as a free agent.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that while no deal is finalized, talks are ongoing. Gomes has been away from English football since leaving Manchester United in 2020, playing in Portugal and France since.

The 25-year-old made his England debut in 2024 under interim manager Lee Carsley but hasn’t been selected since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment last year.

A potential return to the Premier League might help Gomes catch Tuchel’s attention before the upcoming World Cup.
