Arne Slot has indicated that Liverpool might look for a right-back following Jeremie Frimpong’s recent injury.

Frimpong had to leave the field early during the 6-0 victory against Qarabag on Wednesday due to a hamstring issue. He joins Conor Bradley, another right-back, who is out for the season.

Wataru Endo filled in at right-back during the midweek match, while Joe Gomez has played as a full-back in the past. However, Liverpool only has one natural right-back option left, Calvin Ramsay, who has played just three times since joining the team in 2022.

When asked about potential signings before the transfer deadline on Monday, Slot said at his post-match press conference: “We as a club always aim to make smart decisions. We consider both the short and long-term, which is why we sign young players who have room to grow.

“We can see some of that development recently. The decision depends on whether there are players we think can help us, if they are available, if we can afford them, and if it’s beneficial for the future as our injured players return.”

“I mentioned we don’t have many right-backs compared to midfielders and forwards. We need to make wise choices for both now and the future.”

“Let’s first check on Jeremie [Frimpong]. He might not be ready for Saturday, but he could be available in a couple of days. We now move into a schedule of one game a week, which usually helps reduce injuries, but there’s always uncertainty.”
