Arne Slot has confirmed that Jeremie Frimpong will be out for a few weeks, but the injury is not as severe as initially thought.

Frimpong was substituted early in the 6-0 Champions League victory against Qarabag on Wednesday due to a hamstring issue.

This injury adds to a challenging debut season for Frimpong at Liverpool and leaves the team short at right-back, especially after Conor Bradley’s season-ending knee injury.

Ahead of the upcoming match against Newcastle in the Premier League, Slot provided a positive update about Frimpong after medical assessments.

“He will definitely not be in the squad tomorrow. He is out for a few weeks but not as bad as we thought, so there’s some positivity in this situation,” he said during his pre-match press conference.

Liverpool is reportedly considering signing a right-back to manage the losses of Frimpong and Bradley, with the transfer window closing on Monday. Slot remained cautious about the club’s plans in the transfer market.

“If we find a player who can help us and it’s feasible, we will act.”

“These discussions are not happening in this setting. If that suggests likelihood or unlikelihood… we will see.”
