Jamie Carragher has acknowledged Casemiro for his improved performance at Manchester United after a challenging period.
Carragher faced criticism for his negative comments about Casemiro’s decline during the 2023-24 season. After Manchester United lost 4-0 to Crystal Palace in May 2024, he declared that Casemiro’s career at the top level might be over.
“I always remember the saying ‘leave the football before the football leaves you’. The football has left him,” Carragher stated on Sky Sports at that time.
Casemiro has played a crucial role in Manchester United’s recovery this season, showing his form again in the recent match against Fulham. The 33-year-old, who is set to leave the club in the summer, has been performing at his best, leading Carragher to reconsider his earlier criticism.
“What Casemiro has done at Manchester United has been impressive, and he’s receiving a warm farewell as he departs at the end of the season. He has done exactly what you want from a signing,” Carragher commented.
“His first season was excellent, which earned him a lot of praise, and now in his final season, he’s finishing strong. He has excelled this season and will be remembered fondly.”
“The middle part of his time at Manchester United was challenging for him, but he has definitely made a comeback. It’s fair to say that the football has not left him, given his performances this season in the Premier League. Not just against Fulham, but also in the match against Arsenal away and Manchester City at home.”
