Dwight McNeil faced disappointment when his transfer to Crystal Palace fell through on Deadline Day, with no clear communication throughout the process.
Everton and Crystal Palace had agreed on an initial loan deal with a £20 million buy obligation, but the transfer collapsed due to incomplete paperwork.
McNeil’s partner expressed her frustration on social media, stating it has “broken my heart to see how the football world you love so much can be so cruel to you.”

Megan Sharpley shared her thoughts on Instagram, stating, “To have something promised, to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster, and to be toying with until the last minute is heartbreaking.”
She continued, “To have four and a half years of your life planned — travels, medicals, agreements made — and then to have it all taken away without explanation, feels incredibly painful.”
McNeil also commented on the situation, saying, “Even now, I’m still left in the dark. But I know I’m an Everton player, and I will use this as motivation.”
