Inter Milan travels to Sassuolo on Sunday, aiming to strengthen their position at the top of the league.
Cristian Chivu’s team heads to Reggio Emilia with an 11-match unbeaten streak in the league, while Sassuolo, managed by Fabio Grosso, has regained momentum with wins against Cremonese and Pisa.
Inter Milan team news
Inter is facing challenges with injuries, especially in central midfield and wing-back positions. Nicolò Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu are still out and are not expected to play this weekend, forcing Chivu to manage without his usual midfield duo.
Reports indicate that Barella aims to return by mid-February, with the Derby d’Italia as a likely target. Calhanoglu may also return shortly after, allowing him to regain fitness ahead of the Juventus match.
Denzel Dumfries is recovering from a long-term ankle injury and is not expected back until early March. Luis Henrique and possibly Matteo Darmian will handle right wing-back duties.
On the left side, Carlos Augusto is expected to be available, giving Chivu more options alongside Federico Dimarco.
Chivu made several changes for the recent 2-1 Coppa Italia win over Torino, but the core of the main squad, including captain Lautaro Martinez, is likely to return against Sassuolo.
Inter Milan predicted lineup
Possible Inter Milan starting XI: Sommer; Bisseck, Akanji, Bastoni; Luis Henrique, Sucic, Zielinski, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Francesco Pio Esposito.
When will the match kick off?
The match is scheduled to start at 5 PM BST on Sunday, 8th February.
