Ryan Gravenberch stated that Liverpool is feeling frustrated after their loss to Manchester City at Anfield.

Liverpool’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League took a hit with a 2-1 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. After a first half where City was in control and neither team scored, Liverpool came out stronger in the second half, taking the lead with a stunning free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai.

Despite Liverpool’s improved performance, they conceded two late goals, allowing City to clinch the victory.

Bernardo Silva equalized by tapping in a header from Erling Haaland, and Haaland later converted a penalty in stoppage time after Alisson fouled Matheus Nunes. The match also saw a late goal for City disallowed, and Szoboszlai received a red card for denying a clear goal-scoring chance, as confirmed by VAR.

This loss places Liverpool in sixth position, trailing Manchester United by five points in the race for the top four.

“Amazing free-kick from Dom and then they score, and then the ref decides to give a penalty for them to go 2-1. It was tough after that,” Gravenberch told BBC Match of the Day.

“City played better than us in the first half, but we were stronger in the second half. That’s why it’s disappointing to leave without points.

“When we faced them away, they beat us 3-0. Today we had more control, but we need to move on. Sunderland is next.”
