Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with Thomas Frank after a series of poor domestic performances. Frank’s time with Spurs lasted only eight months, leaving the team in 16th place in the Premier League.

A statement from Spurs explained that ‘results and performances have led the Board to decide that a change is necessary at this point in the season’.

The North London club has won only twice in the Premier League since late October and currently sits just five points above the relegation zone. Improvement is crucial to avoid the risk of relegation for the first time since 1977.

Tottenham is not alone in making coaching changes in the Premier League this season. Five permanent managers have been dismissed since the start of the campaign, while Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca left the club by mutual agreement.

Nottingham Forest has also seen two permanent managers fired this season, both of whom were former Tottenham coaches.

Nuno Espirito Santo was the first to go in September, just months after leading Forest to European qualification for the first time since 1995.

His successor, Ange Postecoglou, was dismissed shortly after failing to win any of his eight matches, making him the shortest-serving permanent Premier League manager in history at just 39 days.
