Mikel Arteta expressed gratitude for the support and patience shown by the Arsenal board after a recent wave of Premier League managerial changes.

Thomas Frank, the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, was dismissed on Wednesday, marking him as the fifth Premier League manager to be sacked this season. Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca also left his role by mutual agreement.

Reflecting on the situation with Arsenal’s London rivals, Arteta shared his sadness about another colleague losing his job.

“It’s always disappointing to hear that a colleague can’t continue in his role because Thomas is an excellent coach and a remarkable person, as he has demonstrated in the league,” he told reporters ahead of the upcoming match against Brentford.

“We understand our position. Our responsibilities go beyond just performance, as results can influence outcomes. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Serving over six years now, Arteta is the second-longest tenured manager in the Premier League, only behind Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola. He highlighted the significance of being in sync with the club’s leadership to maintain his role at Arsenal.

When asked about his appreciation for the board’s support, he responded: “I’m very pleased, as that’s what we aimed for from the start. Together, we’ve managed to create stability, performance, enjoyment, and growth for the club, and I hope this season will be even better.”
