Spurs have turned down interest from Chelsea and Aston Villa regarding a deal for Lucas Bergvall during the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old has played 71 matches since joining Tottenham from Djurgardens in June 2024.

He was instrumental in the club’s UEFA Europa League victory last season under Ange Postecoglou, but has had less playing time under Thomas Frank, who was recently let go.

Spurs face challenges after Chelsea and Aston Villa inquire about Bergvall

The Athletic reports that Bergvall’s situation caught the attention of Chelsea and Villa, both of whom reached out to Spurs to see if a deal could be made.

However, Spurs made it clear they are not looking to sell the young player at this time. There could be challenges to keep him in the summer.

The report adds that Villa contacted Spurs after they narrowly lost out on the signing of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid last month. Chelsea, on the other hand, inquired around the same time they were considering a move for Douglas Luiz, who eventually returned to Villa on loan from Juventus.
