Vitor Pereira has stated that he “cannot change a lot” at Nottingham Forest as the club works to remain in the Premier League.

Pereira has taken over as head coach of Forest after Sean Dyche was let go. The team is currently in 17th place in the Premier League, just three points above the relegation zone.

Pereira is now the fourth permanent manager for Forest this season, setting a new record for the Premier League. He previously worked with club owner Evangelos Marinkais at Olympiacos.

When asked about his potential impact, Pereira emphasized the need to manage expectations at the City Ground.

“I cannot change a lot at this moment of the season; it’s about making the players comfortable in the roles I’m asking of them,” Pereira explained.

“It’s important that the players feel they can contribute with their strengths.”

He also encouraged the Forest squad to embrace his approach. “The conversation was about – if you buy into the idea, that’s a positive step,” he added.

“If you don’t accept the manager’s idea, it can be a big issue. It’s essential to trust both the person and the concept; this opens the way for collaboration and hard work.”
