Arne Slot has shared two main reasons for Liverpool‘s recent improvement after a tough spell in 2025.
The team faced a rough patch from late September to November, suffering nine losses in 12 matches across competitions.
As they approach Sunday’s match against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool has only lost twice in their last 19 games, showing a clear positive shift despite two recent defeats in their last four Premier League outings.

Slot noted that his team is now fitter and better at handling set pieces, both in defense and attack.
“Compared to a few weeks ago, not much has changed,” he mentioned in his pre-match press conference. “In the last 19 games, we’ve lost twice, both in extra time. I believe we didn’t deserve those losses.”
“We didn’t need last night’s results to see how tough it is to win in the Premier League.”
“This season, the Premier League has become more competitive. We’ve improved from three to four months ago, even considering the Bournemouth game where we lost but managed to control the match.”
“We’re fitter now than we were four months ago, and we’ve also improved in set pieces.”
Earlier this season, Liverpool faced Forest at Anfield and lost 3-0 during one of Sean Dyche’s first matches in charge. This weekend, a new coach, Vitor Pereira, will take the reins.
“Back then, it was Dyche’s third or fourth game, which made it a bit tougher,” Slot added.
“We only have this evening’s Europa League match against Fenerbahce to see if the new manager will change the lineup. The positive is that they have this game, and he was with a Premier League team last season.”
