Bayern Munich‘s forward made headlines on Tuesday evening by scoring four goals in a 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb.

This performance allowed him to surpass Wayne Rooney as the highest-scoring Englishman in Champions League history and made him the first English player to score four goals in a single match in the tournament.

“Being mentioned in the same breath as Wayne Rooney means a lot,” he stated in an interview with Prime Video.

“He was one of the best English players ever. This is a significant milestone.”

With this achievement, he also matched Andy Cole and Michael Owen for the most Champions League hat-tricks by an Englishman (2) and became the 19th player to score four goals in a Champions League match.
