Alex Iwobi stated that Fulham will approach their goal of reaching Europe one step at a time following a strong victory at Sunderland.
Fulham enhanced their chances for European football with a solid 3-1 win at The Stadium of Light on Sunday. Raul Jimenez scored twice for Fulham, netting the first goal from Iwobi’s corner in the 54th minute, then adding a second from the penalty spot just seven minutes later.
Enzo Le Fee registered a penalty for Sunderland, but Iwobi’s excellent finish assured Fulham’s victory.
This win moved Fulham above Sunderland into 10th place, with only three points separating them from Brentford in seventh.
Iwobi praised his team’s performance despite the challenging pitch but remained cautious about their chances for European qualification, emphasizing that the team is focused on their next match.
“We knew it was going to be difficult, the pitch wasn’t great,” he told Sky Sports.
“We know if we wanted to climb up the table we had to get these points away from home. They have been very strong at home, so it’s good to get the result we wanted.”
“We take it step by step for European qualification. On to the next game—we achieved our aim with these three points, allowing us to climb above them. We’ll take it game by game and see where we finish at the end of the season.”
