Barcelona is leaning towards signing Manchester City winger Savinho this summer instead of completing a permanent deal for Marcus Rashford.
Rashford, who is on loan at Barcelona from Manchester United, has performed well in Spain. The 28-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions. He can be bought for £26m at the end of the season. However, he has started only two of the last seven La Liga matches when fit, leading to uncertainty about a permanent transfer.
El Nacional reports that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick would be willing to forgo signing Rashford if Savinho becomes available. The 21-year-old has made just five Premier League starts this season and attracted interest from Tottenham last summer. Although he signed a new contract after Spurs’ bid was rejected, he may look for new opportunities following the arrivals of Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo.
Manchester City is likely to ask for more than £50m for Savinho, which could be a challenge for Barcelona.
Nonetheless, Barcelona might pursue Savinho if he’s on the market, as they were impressed with him during his previous loan at Girona. Flick reportedly sees Savinho as a better fit for his plans compared to Rashford.
