Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens has expressed that he is pleased with the comparisons to club legend Edwin van der Sar.
Lammens stood out during Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Everton on Monday. The young keeper effectively managed the threat from the home team’s set pieces.
He made four crucial saves, including a key stop from Tyrique George late in the match to deny Everton an equalizer.
In his first season at Old Trafford, Lammens has captured the attention of Van der Sar, who was part of the Sky Sports commentary team for the game.
Van der Sar noted that he sees some similarities between their playing styles, a comparison Lammens appreciates.
“I just try to stay calm and play my own game,” said the Belgium international. “I know I have the qualities to be here. So, I believe in myself, and the support from my teammates is really helpful.”
