Our Champions League Awards recognize the highlights and lowlights of the recent matches, featuring Bodo/Glimt, Alexander Sorloth, and Vinicius Junior.
Moment of the Week
The underdog story of Bodo/Glimt keeps getting better. This week, the Norwegian team stunned everyone by eliminating Inter Milan. The team from a small town north of the Arctic circle managed to defeat the three-time European champions in both legs to reach the Round of 16.
A remarkable win at San Siro secured their advancement, marking an incredible achievement for Kjetil Knutsen’s squad.
Interestingly, Bodo lost their first six games in this season’s Champions League but found their stride after achieving their first victory last month.
The population of Bodø (around 55,000) could fit inside the San Siro stadium.

Bodo has now defeated Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Inter (twice), becoming the first team from outside Europe’s top five leagues to win four consecutive Champions League matches against those teams in 54 years.
The last team to achieve this was Ajax, who eventually became European champions.
Player of the Week
Alexander Sorloth is proving to be one of Europe’s most underrated center-forwards. The Norwegian has improved significantly since his earlier days at Crystal Palace and shone for Atletico Madrid this week.
His hat-trick helped secure Atletico’s place in the Round of 16 after a second-leg victory over Club Brugge.
Since joining Atletico in 2024, Sorloth has scored 39 goals in 89 games, showcasing his impact despite not always being a regular starter.

The 30-year-old has averaged a goal every 107 minutes across La Liga and the Champions League, scoring 34 times from only 36 starts.
Goal of the Week
This week’s standout goal came from Vinicius Junior.
A week after facing racial abuse at Benfica, he scored a crucial winner in the return leg. His celebration at the corner flag served as a powerful message.

Stat of the Week
A surprising fact came to light regarding Lloyd Kelly.
2 – Lloyd Kelly is the second Englishman to receive a red card in a UEFA Champions League knockout match for a non-English team, after Matt Derbyshire for Olympiakos versus Bordeaux in 2009-10. Unexpected. pic.twitter.com/VKa3dGJcua

A week to forget for…
Inter Milan faced a tough match, having to overcome a 3-1 deficit against Bodo/Glimt. Manuel Akanji’s unfortunate mistake made their comeback practically impossible.
The Swiss defender gave away a goal at San Siro, complicating Inter’s already difficult challenge.
