Liverpool has been informed that Real Madrid may show interest in Alexis Mac Allister during the summer transfer window.
The Spanish club wants to strengthen their midfield options and is reportedly considering several players from the Premier League.
Mac Allister is frequently mentioned as a potential target for Real, as they seek a long-term replacement for Luka Modric after his departure last summer.
This summer, Mac Allister will enter the final two seasons of his contract at Liverpool, and the club has been advised that they must make a decision about his future if a new contract is not reached.
According to Ian Doyle from the Liverpool Echo, Real Madrid could pursue Mac Allister if he performs well at the World Cup with Argentina and does not sign an extension at Liverpool.
“This is a World Cup year. If Mac Allister has a good tournament with Argentina, there’s every chance Real [Madrid] will be interested in him,” said Doyle. “With two years left on his contract, if a new deal isn’t agreed, Liverpool would need to consider a response if a substantial offer comes in.”
