Chelsea captain Reece James acknowledged that the club’s disciplinary issues are a concern following their recent red card.
Chelsea lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium.
Goals from William Saliba and Jurrien Timber secured the win for Arsenal, alongside an own goal from Piero Hincapie, with the match influenced by set pieces.
Chelsea’s chances were diminished when Pedro Neto received a red card shortly after Arsenal took the lead. The Portuguese winger made a reckless challenge on Gabriel Martinelli, just three minutes after his first booking.

Neto’s dismissal marked Chelsea’s ninth red card this season across all competitions. James admitted the team’s lack of discipline is problematic.
“It’s disappointing to leave without points. When it was 1-1, we had a chance to go ahead, but their goalkeeper made a good save before they scored from a set piece,” James told Sky Sports.
“We’ve discussed our red card record multiple times; it’s always a different player. We need to reflect internally and continue to improve.
It’s an issue. We’re competing in the toughest league, and whether it’s the top or bottom teams, playing 11 against 10 is difficult no matter who the opponent is.
“I trust our team and staff. It didn’t go our way today, but we need to regroup and move forward.”
