Jurrien Timber expressed his desire for Arsenal to savor the title race after their victory over Chelsea, which boosted their lead at the top of the Premier League.
Timber scored the winning goal by heading in a corner from Declan Rice after Piero Hincapie’s own goal had equalized William Saliba’s opener for Arsenal.
Although Mikel Arteta’s team didn’t play at their best at the Emirates, they utilized their set-piece skills effectively. Arsenal has now netted 16 goals from corners this season in the Premier League, matching the record for a single campaign.
Timber felt that Arsenal deserved the win, especially after Chelsea’s Pedro Neto received a red card for two quick yellow cards. The victory puts Arsenal five points ahead of Manchester City, although they have played one more game.
“We deserved to win this game. In the first half, we didn’t give much away. It was 1-1 at halftime, but we finished it off in the second half, which was great,” Timber said in an interview with Sky Sports.
“Set pieces were crucial for both teams today. We performed well overall and secured the three points. Now we have an important match against Brighton on Wednesday.”
“We need to enjoy this. It’s a privilege to be here with my teammates at Arsenal, competing for these titles. We’re taking it game by game, and hopefully, the outcome will be rewarding.”
