Liam Rosenior has emphasized the need for Chelsea to address their set-piece and disciplinary problems for a successful season.

Chelsea was defeated 2-1 by Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, adversely affecting their chances for Champions League qualification. The team conceded two goals from corner kicks at the Emirates, and Pedro Neto’s red card further complicated their effort to make a comeback. This marked Chelsea’s ninth red card of the season across all competitions.

“If we don’t tackle the set-play issues and discipline problems, then despite our positive efforts, we won’t achieve our goals,” Rosenior stated on BBC Radio 5 Live after the match.

“I respect the previous manager Enzo [Maresca] and won’t discuss past events, but we are seeing similar issues under my management.”

“I thought we had resolved this. We managed ten games without a red card, but now we face two in just two matches, which is a problem we must fix.”

This season, Chelsea has only won three out of nine games when reduced to ten players. The red cards include expulsions in both league matches against Arsenal and a significant red card during a defeat to Fulham in the West London Derby.
