Gary Neville has raised concerns about Arsenal‘s lack of title experience as they approach the end of the Premier League season.
Arsenal increased their lead over Manchester City to five points after defeating Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates on Sunday.
The team, which has played one more match than their closest competitors, aims to secure their first title in 22 years following three seasons as runners-up.
Neville believes Arsenal can succeed, but he acknowledges that their inexperience could be a challenge for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
During an interview with Sky Sports, Neville, an eight-time Premier League champion, reflected: “I remember my first title win in 1995-96; it was tough. As the season neared its end, fatigue set in, and the pressure from the media became overwhelming.
“I was fortunate to have experienced teammates who had already won multiple titles.
“My main concern, aside from injuries and the heavy schedule, is that they face Pep Guardiola’s well-established team, which has a wealth of experience that Arsenal lacks. While Gabriel Jesus has won titles, he may not be the one to inspire the entire squad.
“The key question is who in the locker room can calm the team and maintain focus?
“We had many seasoned winners during our first title run, and it was challenging. However, I believe they will succeed; the experience gained in recent years may be enough to see them through.”
