Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has called for a review on how set-pieces are defended in the Premier League at the end of the season.

This comes after Chelsea allowed two goals from corners in their 2-1 loss to Arsenal on Sunday.

Set-piece goals are rising this season, with 17.6% of all goals scored from corners in 2025-26. This is the highest percentage recorded in Premier League history, according to Opta.

Arsenal frequently crowd the penalty box to exploit dead balls, but Rosenior believes goalkeepers need more protection.

When discussing remarks from Liverpool manager Arne Slot about the current set-piece trend, Rosenior emphasized the need for a review of how players interact with goalkeepers to prevent “unfair advantages.”

“I think that’s the beauty of football; you can play in many ways. There’s no right or wrong way to play,” he stated.

“When we scored from a corner yesterday, our fans didn’t care how the goal was scored. I’m sure Arsenal’s fans felt the same about their goals. Winning is what matters in the game.”

“Regarding corners, I think there should be a review at the end of the season about how teams are impacting goalkeepers during defensive set pieces. This practice gives an unfair advantage to some teams.”
