Liam Rosenior has confirmed that Cole Palmer is fit to play against Aston Villa, having not suffered another groin injury.

Palmer was substituted during Chelsea’s 2-1 loss to Arsenal on Sunday, raising concerns about his condition.

The 23-year-old has had a season affected by injuries, starting only 15 Premier League matches due to toe and groin issues.

Chelsea faces Aston Villa in an important match for the top-five standings on Wednesday, and Rosenior reassured that Palmer is ready to participate. He also mentioned that Marc Cucurella is close to returning to the team.

“It wasn’t another groin issue. He took a knock, but he is absolutely fine,” Rosenior said about Palmer on Monday.

“He is looking really good, and you can see how we’ve managed him over the past six weeks. He played 83 minutes [against Arsenal], which was tactical. He is fit to start the game on Wednesday.”

“Marc [Cucurella] is getting closer and looking good. We hope to have him back soon, if not for Wednesday, definitely by Saturday.”

“Estevao is back on the pitch and running, which is great. Jamie Gittens is progressing well, and it was nice to see Romeo Lavia get his first minutes in a long time. Reece [James] is also absolutely fine.”
