Liverpool head coach Arne Slot wants Rio Ngumoha to deliver his best performance in every match following his standout display in Friday’s victory over Wolves.
The Reds secured a 3-1 win at Molineux, progressing to the FA Cup quarter-finals, with goals from Andy Robertson, Mo Salah, Curtis Jones, and Hwang Hee-chan.
There has been a strong call for Ngumoha to make his first start since August, when he netted a stunning late winner against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
Arne Slot praises ‘special’ Rio Ngumoha
Slot described the teenager as a “special” talent after his impressive 68-minute performance, emphasizing the need for consistent displays from the young player.
“At 17, if you can influence two Premier League teams, it highlights your talent,” the coach told BBC Sport. “However, it’s up to him to bring this level regularly. This should boost his confidence for away games.”
Slot pointed out that Liverpool’s performance was similar to their previous match against Wolves, which ended in a 2-1 defeat.
“Most aspects were the same as three days ago, except that we scored more. It’s frustrating that we hardly allowed chances but still conceded a goal.”
