Andy Robertson acknowledged that Liverpool have faced ups and downs throughout the season after their victory over Wolves in the FA Cup on Friday night.
The team avenged their midweek 2-1 Premier League loss at the same location, which had prevented them from moving into the top four.
Robertson scored the opening goal shortly after halftime, followed by Mo Salah who increased the lead. Curtis Jones added a third goal, while Hwang Hee-chan scored a late consolation, leading to a 3-1 win and Liverpool’s advance to the quarter-finals.
“That’s more like it,” the left-back said on BBC One after the match. “We let ourselves down on Tuesday. It’s important we corrected that. The FA Cup is a do-or-die scenario.”
On his goal, he commented: “Couldn’t have hit it much better! It opened up, and thankfully, I struck it well. We’re happy to be through now.”

Robertson has started only five matches in the Premier League this season due to the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. His contract is also due to expire this summer, raising questions about his future at Anfield.
When asked if he felt he had something to prove against Wolves, the Scot replied, “I’m not sure if I have a point to prove in a Liverpool shirt. The fans know I give everything when I play. You just want to enjoy it. Milos is a great left-back who is settling in well.”
“He had a fantastic season at Bournemouth. It takes time to adjust at a big club. The team needs to evolve, and those who have been here a while aren’t getting any younger. I’ve dealt with competition my entire career.”
Robertson reflects on Liverpool’s win against Wolves
Liverpool’s inconsistency this season means they are out of the title chase but remain in contention for the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
“We are fighting on all fronts,” Robertson stated. “We are still in two cup competitions. If we continue to play like we did tonight, we will be tough to beat. We need to find that consistency. It’s been one step forward, two steps back.”
