Port Vale stunned Sunderland with a 1-0 victory in the FA Cup fifth round at Vale Park.

The League One team overcame Premier League side Sunderland thanks to a first-half goal from Ben Waine. The Newcastle fan scored by heading in a loose ball in the box, celebrating in honor of Alan Shearer.

Port Vale, currently last in their league, has now advanced to the FA Cup quarter-finals.

This marks the first time the club has reached the last eight of the FA Cup in 72 years and their first win over a Premier League team since they beat Everton in 1995-96.

Waine expressed his belief that they deserved the win, highlighting how they adapted to the conditions at their home ground.

“This is unbelievable, I’ve never seen this place like this,” he said to TNT Sports.

“It may not have been the most exciting game, but we earned it. We know this pitch well and played to the conditions. We took our chance and then defended hard.”
