Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has discussed the strengths and weaknesses of Liverpool ahead of their Champions League match tomorrow.
The Turkish champions will host Liverpool in Istanbul for the first leg of their last-16 tie.
This marks the second meeting between the teams in this season’s competition, with Galatasaray having won 1-0 during the league phase.
Galatasaray recently knocked out Juventus in the previous round and is looking to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 2012-13.
Before the game, Buruk emphasized the need to prepare for Liverpool’s effectiveness from set pieces, naming Virgil van Dijk as a significant threat. He pointed out that Liverpool is vulnerable during transitions from their own attacking set pieces.
“They excel at set pieces, particularly with players like Van Dijk who excel in those situations,” he stated. “They have multiple tall players, so we must take measures to defend against this. We’ll focus on that. Liverpool tends to concede goals from set-piece transitions.”
