Joao Pedro stated that Chelsea believes they can turn around their Champions League matchup against Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea suffered a 5-2 defeat in the first leg in Paris, conceding two late goals. This leaves the team with a significant challenge as they face the reigning champions, who are considered favorites to advance.
Despite the score, Pedro noted that there is confidence within the Chelsea squad. He referenced their 3-0 victory over PSG in the Club World Cup final as a demonstration of what they can achieve with confidence.
In a media interview on Monday, he said: “This week has been tough for us. We know our strengths and still believe because we showed we can win 3-0 in the Club World Cup. The group believes, the manager believes, and the fans should believe too.”
Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior supported Pedro’s statements but acknowledged that the team must perform perfectly to overturn the deficit.
“If you look at the game purely by the scoreline, we were punished by very good players for our mistakes,” he said. “We have been caught out by these moments in previous games. We cannot afford to make mistakes tomorrow. PSG are European champions for a reason, but we know we can compete.”
