Chelsea winger Pedro Neto is set to play against Paris Saint-Germain tomorrow after escaping UEFA sanctions for an incident with a ball boy during last week’s first leg match.
Neto had a confrontation with the ball boy as tensions rose during Chelsea’s loss to PSG in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 match at Parc des Princes.
Though there was a possibility of suspension, UEFA opted to issue only a warning to Neto for his unsporting behavior.
In a press conference on Monday, Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior expressed support for UEFA’s decision: “He’s a fantastic player, he has apologised for the incident and I think UEFA have made the right decision.”
Chelsea is currently trailing 5-2 on aggregate as they prepare to play at Stamford Bridge, aiming to overturn their deficit against the defending champions. Historically, only four teams have come back to win a Champions League tie after losing the first leg by three or more goals.
