Enzo Fernandez has not committed to staying at Chelsea next season amid rumors linking him with Real Madrid.
Chelsea exited the Champions League on Wednesday night after losing 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain at Stamford Bridge, resulting in an overall 8-2 defeat to the European champions.
The FA Cup is now Chelsea’s last opportunity for a trophy, as they sit sixth in the Premier League and fight for a top-four finish.
Concerns about Chelsea’s ability to compete for major trophies have raised questions about the future of several key players. Fernandez is being eyed by Real Madrid after having a strong performance in West London. The Argentina international has scored 12 goals and provided five assists for Chelsea this season, attracting interest from Spain.
When asked by ESPN Argentina about his future, Fernandez stated he would evaluate things after this summer’s World Cup.
“I don’t know — there are eight games left and the FA Cup. There’s the World Cup and then we’ll see.”
Chelsea is in a good position to fend off interest in Fernandez. The midfielder joined from Benfica in January 2023 for a British record fee of £106m and has six years remaining on his contract.
