UEFA has reportedly opened an investigation into Real Madrid players’ celebrations in front of Atletico Madrid fans. El Real players could face sanctions.

Real Madrid continue their quest to defend their Champions League title when they take on Arsenal in the quarter-finals. Los Blancos reached the last eight after overcoming a stiff challenge from city rivals Atletico Madrid in the last 16.

Madrid booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 4-2 penalty shootout win at the Wanda Metropolitano. The match went to penalties after Atletico led Madrid 1-0 after 120 minutes. The aggregate score was 2-2 after El Real won the first leg 2-1.

The Madrid players were emotional after beating Atletico. They also celebrated in front of Atletico fans at the Wanda Metropolitano.

UEFA has now opened an investigation into the actions of the Madrid players who celebrated in front of the Atletico fans. Several players are suspected of being overly provocative to Atletico supporters during the celebrations.

The four Madrid players suspected of provocation are Antonio Ruediger, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Dani Ceballos.

According to Sport, Ruediger made a neck-cutting gesture. Mbappe allegedly touched his genitals while celebrating.

Vinicius clashed with Atletico supporters. Meanwhile, Ceballos is still unaware of his actions, which have also drawn UEFA into the investigation.

UEFA could impose fines or bans if the Madrid players’ actions are found to be in breach of the regulations. UEFA has previously banned Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Simeone and Jude Bellingham for touching their genitals while celebrating.

If the above Madrid players are found guilty and sanctioned by UEFA, they could miss the game against Arsenal.
