Arne Slot acknowledged that Brighton deserved their victory against Liverpool on Saturday as his team suffered their 10th defeat in the Premier League this season.

Danny Welbeck scored early for Brighton with a header, but Milos Kerkez equalized for Liverpool just before halftime after a mistake by Lewis Dunk.

Brighton regained the lead ten minutes into the second half when Welbeck scored again, marking their fourth win ever over Liverpool.

“The first half was pretty even, but in the second half they played better,” Slot stated on BBC Match of the Day.

“I think they deserved the win. The margins are small; their goal was only a few millimeters onside, but they deserved that goal more than us in the second half.”

This marks the fifth time Liverpool has lost in the league right after a Champions League match this season, indicating that fatigue may be affecting their performance. Slot also pointed out that they were without key players Mo Salah and Alexander Isak, and Hugo Ekitike was injured early in the game.

“You never know,” Slot mentioned. “There are always several factors. It doesn’t help to lose a top goal scorer for the entire season.”

“Another prolific scorer for the club was also absent, and losing Hugo Ekitike so early – a player proven to be a goal scorer – adds a lot of pressure. That’s tough for any team, especially against a strong Brighton side.”
