Mikel Arteta stated it’s ‘too easy’ to question Arsenal’s mindset following their Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City.

Arsenal missed the chance to claim a major trophy for the first time in six years, falling 2-0 to Manchester City at Wembley. Nico O’Reilly scored both goals for City, who secured their ninth League Cup title and sixth since 2016.

Arsenal’s performance in the final was lacking, drawing criticism for not stepping up in a crucial moment.

After ending up as runners-up in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons and being eliminated in the Champions League semi-finals last year, doubts about Arsenal’s ability to win key trophies have surfaced.

Arteta, however, dismissed these concerns and expressed confidence in his team, who currently lead the Premier League and have advanced to the quarter-finals of both the FA Cup and the Champions League.

“I wouldn’t attribute this to mentality, especially after a loss or draw. I think it’s too easy to say that,” Arteta mentioned during the post-match press conference.

“As I noted in the first half, we had some very positive moments that we didn’t make the most of in the second half.

“There were chances for both us and them; we hit the post and also had a significant opportunity with Gabi, and another one with Viktor that we missed.

“You must give credit to the opposition; they played well, and their success is not coincidental.”
