Manchester United is nearing a new deal for Kobbie Mainoo following successful talks with the midfielder’s agents.
Mainoo has become a vital part of the team’s revival under Michael Carrick, returning to regular play after challenges with former manager Ruben Amorim.
The 20-year-old’s recent performances earned him a spot in the England squad for March’s games against Uruguay and Japan. This is his first call-up in over 18 months; he last played for the national team in September 2024.
United started discussions with Mainoo about a new contract in January, following Amorim’s departure. Fabrizio Romano has reported that a deal is close, expected to last until 2031.
Although the agreement is not finalized, there is confidence at Manchester United that terms will be settled soon. This deal represents a significant turnaround for Mainoo, who was anticipated to leave in the January transfer window before Amorim was let go.
