Liverpool has begun preparations for life without Mohamed Salah, who is set to leave the club this summer, as announced on Tuesday.

Salah has broken scoring records and earned multiple trophies during his time at Anfield. The club’s recruitment team now faces the challenge of finding a suitable replacement.

Here are five players Liverpool may consider to fill the void left by Salah.

Michael Olise – Bayern Munich

After signing Florian Wirtz last summer, Liverpool might target Michael Olise from Germany. He’s a proven player in the Premier League, playing as an inverted right-winger and delivering strong results.

However, Bayern Munich likely won’t let Olise leave easily. He is currently the top assist provider in Europe and continues to improve.

Yan Diomande – RB Leipzig

Yan Diomande is generating attention for his impressive performances at Leipzig. The 19-year-old has made a significant impact since his move from Leganes, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 21 league starts. His adaptability on both flanks makes him an appealing option.

Anthony Gordon – Newcastle

While Anthony Gordon isn’t a direct replacement, Liverpool has shown interest in the Newcastle winger before. Despite past tensions during the Alexander Isak negotiations, a strong offer could attract Newcastle’s attention in light of financial constraints. Gordon has netted 17 goals in 41 games this season, including 10 in 12 Champions League matches.

Jarrod Bowen – West Ham

Jarrod Bowen, who will turn 30 later this year, may not fit Liverpool’s usual recruitment strategy, but West Ham’s potential relegation could make him a viable candidate. The winger has scored 29 league goals over the last two seasons, with eight this campaign despite a struggling team.

In December 2023, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised Bowen as his “favorite player besides my players.” His acquisition could also help address Liverpool’s homegrown player challenges.

Takefusa Kubo – Real Sociedad

Takefusa Kubo has been frequently linked with a Premier League move and may be ready to make that leap this summer. Although his performance has dipped recently, the 24-year-old has skills to challenge defenders that Liverpool could benefit from. He was the most fouled player in La Liga last season, indicating his potential impact.
