England manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed support for Ben White, affirming that the Arsenal defender “deserves another chance” with the national team.
White’s call-up for the warm-up matches against Uruguay and Japan marks his return to the squad after three years.
The 28-year-old had previously left the 2022 World Cup camp in Qatar early for personal reasons and was unavailable for Gareth Southgate’s team since then.
However, Tuchel has stated that any past issues are in the past ahead of Friday’s match at Wembley.

“I don’t know the details of what happened,” Tuchel said at a press conference on Thursday. “I wanted to turn the page and start anew.”

Tuchel added that White “immediately, without hesitation, said he would love to come back and was eager to join.”
This recall enhances England’s defense options ahead of the World Cup. White’s ability to play both right-back and centre-back gives Tuchel much-needed tactical choices as he aims to secure his spot in the final squad for North America.
