Most Manchester United players are currently away on international duty, taking a break from domestic matches.

Michael Carrick’s team is in third place in the Premier League, with seven games remaining. They will return to action on April 13 against Leeds United at Old Trafford.

The main goal for the rest of the season is to secure a Champions League spot for 2026/27, and winning matches is the best way to achieve this.

As the men’s team has no upcoming matches due to international games, attention has shifted to Manchester United Women.

Marc Skinner’s team currently sits third in the Women’s Super League and is making progress.

They have reached the Champions League quarter-finals, although they lost the first leg 3-2 to Bayern Munich last Wednesday. Additionally, they recently lost the League Cup final to Chelsea.

Like their male counterparts, the aim for Skinner and his team is to qualify for European competition next season.

They have accumulated 38 points from 19 matches, with three games left to play against Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Chelsea.

However, their title hopes have ended after a loss to Manchester City on Saturday.

Many fans attended the match at Old Trafford, but United suffered a 3-0 defeat, which began with two quick goals from Vivianne Miedema.

Kerstin Casparij added another goal in the 49th minute, leaving United unable to respond.

City has taken control of the title race with 49 points from 19 matches, giving them a solid lead over their rivals.

It now appears to be a question of when, not if, Andree Jeglertz’s City will win the WSL title given their dominance this season.

After the loss, Skinner mentioned that his players were struggling with fatigue following their mid-week match against Bayern.

“I’m not disappointed with any of the players, only with the result,” Skinner said, emphasizing that his team is giving their all.

He added, “We’re limited in squad availability due to the number of games. Players are doing their best, but fatigue is causing some mistakes.”

Skinner also noted that City’s strong bench contributed to their victory at Old Trafford.

This clearly shows that the upper hand in Manchester currently belongs to the blue side. Jeglertz’s team is performing at a higher level, while United has a lot to improve on.
