The international break has begun, giving players not called up for national duty some time off.

While many opt to stay close to training, others return home to spend time with family and relax.

However, one Napoli player is facing issues after missing training today, failing to return from the break.

The club is keen to maintain their Serie A champion status after winning the league last season.

Currently, Napoli is in third place, seven points behind leaders Inter Milan, with a chance to climb the rankings on Monday, April 4, 2026.

Their next match will be against AC Milan, who are just one point ahead, providing Napoli the opportunity to overtake them with a win.

But coach Antonio Conte’s training plans are being affected by the absence of Romelu Lukaku.

Napoli’s official statement reads: “SSC Napoli can confirm that Romelu Lukaku did not respond to today’s call to return to training.”

The club added: “We reserve the right to consider disciplinary action and will decide whether the player will train with the team in the future.”

This situation wasn’t unexpected for Napoli, as there were already speculations about Lukaku planning to stay in Brussels.

Last week, it was reported that he wanted to remain in Belgium with his family, prompting comments from the Belgian national team regarding the matter.

Belgium’s technical director, Vincent Mannaert, explained that Lukaku’s decision was based on potential travel challenges that could impact the remainder of the season.

He is also eyeing a spot in the 2026 World Cup squad and prefers to take it easy for now.

As Napoli considers their next steps, it remains to be seen what consequences Lukaku will face for missing training.
