Radu Dragusin was considering a loan move in January, but Tottenham did not allow it due to injury concerns.

Since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Genoa in January 2024, Radu Dragusin has faced challenges.

The Romanian international was seen as an important addition to bolster the squad, which was dealing with injury issues. However, he has struggled on the field, with his defensive skills often questioned.

After returning from an ACL injury in late December 2025, Dragusin had a chance to play regularly last season. Unfortunately, a serious injury in January set back his progress. The 24-year-old does not match the quality of starting defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, nor that of back-up Kevin Danso. However, he was in demand during the winter transfer window.

Fiorentina to Renew Interest in Radu Dragusin

Several Serie A teams showed interest in Dragusin. AC Milan wanted him, and both Napoli and AS Roma made inquiries. Juventus also had a loan proposal rejected by Spurs, who aimed to retain him amidst their injury struggles.

Fiorentina was looking to sign Dragusin during the winter transfer window to help with their fight for survival. Following a challenging start to the season, they aimed to strengthen their defense. However, Tottenham chose not to let him go, resulting in no transfer.

Fiorentina’s situation has improved in recent months. After starting the season poorly, they climbed to 16th place under Paolo Vanoli. There is renewed hope that they can avoid relegation, prompting the club to start planning for the summer transfer window.

According to a report from SportsBoom, Fiorentina intends to revisit their interest in Dragusin, assuming they secure their position in Serie A. They aim to bring the 24-year-old back to Italy, where he had previously become a promising young defender.

Spurs have built a positive relationship with Fiorentina recently. They loaned Manor Solomon to the club after his loan at Villarreal was cut short. Fabio Paratici, the former Co-Sporting Director at Spurs, now oversees football operations at Fiorentina and could play a key role if the club pursues Dragusin this summer.

Dragusin Would Fit Well at Fiorentina

Fiorentina sees the appeal in Dragusin. His Serie A experience offers a low-risk option for adjusting to the league. Given his previous familiarity, he is likely to fit into the manager’s plans and could be a long-term asset for the club.

However, unless Tottenham brings in a reliable centre-back to maintain squad depth, they should not allow Dragusin to leave this summer.
